Now Let Us Sing!
In this action-packed week, young people will have a blast, learn a ton, and sound great! We’ll do warmups to strengthen and protect singers’ voices, learn tips to increase singing power and expressiveness, and work on training our ears — the singer’s most important tool. We’ll take a look at understanding sheet music (even if you don’t read music!). We’ll even do some songwriting! Plus, of course, we’ll sing together — a lot — and, of course, in harmony! You’re invited — Come make beautiful music with us!
The Teachers
Mary K. Isaacs
After growing up in an acting, singing family, Mary K. has directed children’s singing groups and musical theatre and provided one-on-one coaching for singers, dancers, and actors. Mary K.‘s career also has included playwriting, songwriting, theatrical direction, lay ministry, political activism, curriculum writing, and parenthood. She currently daylights as a teacher, joyfully sharing Language Arts and Social Studies with students at Austin EcoSchool.
Will Bryant
This gifted and charming young man has done a lot in his 17 years! Homeschooled until he started college, Will could sing before he could talk. He’s been singing ever since, and now also plays guitar, piano, and keyboards in almost every style. Will arranges for multi-voice harmony, writes original tunes, and has recorded and released a CD of a cappella Christmas music with his equally talented sisters. Will is delighted to share his love of music with children this summer through the EcoSchool summer program.
